Tile roofs can be a great addition to a new house or a roofing project.  When installed properly a tile roof can last upwards of 100 years.  The issue with many tile roofs, whether you use clay tile or concrete tile, the workmanship, underlayment, and accessories tile valley metal, batten systems, ridge cap all play a role in the longevity of the tile roof.  We have installed and repaired tile roof systems for over 30 years and have the experience to know what works and what doesn't and what could pose an issue down the road that may limit the life of the tile roof system.

Tile Roof Repair

Tile roofs can be some of the most beautiful roofs you can install on your home that gives an unspoken statement of quality, luxury, and strength.  At the same time, they can be one of the most costly roofs to install and repair.  Because of this, we see many roofers try to save money on workmanship and underlayment.  There are many misconceptions about tile roofs, many people believe they are inferior to some of the new composite options on the market or they are prone to leaks at a great rate than other roofing options.

Concrete Tile Roof Systems

Concrete tile roofs are a proven roof system that has been installed in some form for hundreds of years.  The tile itself will last well over 50 years will minimal issues.  Concrete tile roofs even offer class 4 impact rated tile and almost all tile roofs currently made are at a class 3 rating.  The issues we find today with tile are typically workmanship and accessories used alongside the tile.  We find there are less and less roofing companies and crews that are knowledgeable enough to install tile roofs.  The next issues are using material that is not designed for tile roofs, ie synthetic underlayment, 29 gauge metal, one-piece riser edge metal, and even roof to deck batten strips on new installations.
